About Landon

I bring a strong academic background and a thoughtful, structured approach to each session. I hold a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA, with a concentration in theological studies. In the future, I plan on starting PhD work at Southern Seminary. That training has given me a solid foundation for working carefully with texts and explaining complex ideas clearly.

In addition to my academic work, I have experience teaching and leading small groups, which has helped me develop a clear and patient communication style. I’m comfortable breaking down difficult material, guiding discussion, and helping students organize their thinking in a way that actually makes sense to them.

I take tutoring seriously and aim to be consistent, prepared, and respectful of each student’s time and goals. My goal is not just to help students get through assignments, but to help them understand the material and grow in confidence as they work through it.

My approach as a tutor is centered on helping students understand ideas clearly, not just memorize information. I try to meet students where they are and adjust explanations based on their level and background. In subjects like Bible study, ethics, and philosophy, I focus on careful reading, asking good questions, and working through ideas step by step so students can follow the reasoning for themselves.
A typical lesson usually starts with identifying what the student is working on or struggling with. From there, we’ll walk through the material together—reading passages, clarifying key terms, and discussing main ideas. I like to pause often to make sure things are actually understood, not just heard, and I’ll ask students to explain concepts back in their own words. When helpful, I’ll also help them organize their thoughts for writing or discussion.
What sets me apart is that I’m used to working with complex material and making it easier to understand without oversimplifying it. My background in theology has trained me to pay attention to detail, context, and clarity, and my teaching experience has helped me communicate those ideas in a way that’s accessible. I try to keep sessions structured but relaxed, so students feel comfortable asking questions and thinking things through.
These lessons are best suited for middle school, high school, or college students who are studying Bible, ethics, or philosophy, or who want help thinking more clearly about those subjects. I’m especially helpful for students who need help understanding difficult readings, preparing for assignments, or improving how they explain their ideas in writing.
