About Md Tanvir
I hold a Master of Machine Learning and Computer Vision from the Australian National University, where I was also a Teaching Assistant for COMP6730 Programming for Scientists. My recent work includes CountFormer, a transformer model for class-agnostic object counting.
I am a PhD candidate at HIT Lab NZ, University of Canterbury, building a real-time system that combines wearable sensors and computer vision. Before my PhD I taught computer science at university level for six years.

These lessons suit students taking machine learning, deep learning, computer vision or data analysis courses, and postgraduate students using Python in their research.
We can cover the core ideas (supervised and unsupervised learning, model evaluation, neural networks, convolutional networks and transformers) and the practical side in Python: preparing data, plotting results, working in Jupyter notebooks, and building and training models. I can also help research students organise their data processing and analysis code.
Each lesson focuses on understanding: we look at why a method works, then implement it in small steps so you can do it yourself. I do not complete assessed work for students.
