About Shahidul
I’m Shahid, and I have around 6 years of experience in teaching and research in areas such as data science, machine learning, and computational biology. My interest lies in applying programming to real-world problems, especially in research and statistical analysis.
I completed my MSc and BSc in Computer Science from Khulna University, Bangladesh, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Statistical Genetics at the University of Adelaide. I have worked as a lecturer in Villa College, the Maldives; as a Lecturer, then as an Assistant Professor at the University of Asia Pacific, Bangladesh, where I taught undergraduate students and supported academic projects.
I focus on helping students understand concepts clearly and apply them confidently using Python and R. My approach is practical and structured, ensuring students develop both coding skills and statistical thinking rather than just memorising steps.

I usually start by explaining the concept in a simple way, sometimes using a short PowerPoint presentation, and then show how it works with real examples in Python or R. After that, I guide students step-by-step while they try coding themselves, so they understand by doing rather than just watching.
A typical lesson is around 60 minutes, but it can be adjusted (±15 minutes) depending on the student’s needs or the topic.
I have 6 years of experience as a tertiary educator with a research background in computational biology, machine learning, and data analysis. I hold an MSc and BSc in Computer Science and am currently pursuing a PhD in Statistical Genetics at the University of Adelaide.
My lessons are aimed at university students, postgraduates, and researchers who want to learn programming for statistics, machine learning, and research applications. I focus on keeping things simple, practical, and directly applicable to real work.
