About Constantin

Hi! I’m Constantin, a competitive chess player and member of Kingston Chess Club, with a peak online rapid rating of 2400 and international tournament experience. I love helping other people improve at chess, whether you’re learning the fundamentals, trying to break through a rating plateau, or preparing for your next tournament. My approach combines the experience I’ve gained through competitive play with a patient, practical teaching style. I also have experience working with children at Kingston Chess Club.

About the lesson

Every lesson is tailored to your level and goals
. Depending on what you need, we can work on:
-Tactics and calculation:
Recognise patterns, spot opportunities and calculate more confidently
- Game analysis:
Review your own games to understand where things went wrong and how to make better decisions next time.
-Opening principles:
Build a sound foundation without getting lost memorising endless variations.
- Strategy and positional play: Learn how to develop plans, improve your pieces and understand what makes a position good.
- Endgames:
Build the technique needed to convert advantages and save difficult positions.

We’ll start by discussing your experience, rating and goals. We can then look at some of your games or positions to identify the areas that will make the biggest difference to your play.

During lessons, I encourage you to think aloud, explain your ideas and ask questions. Rather than simply telling you the best move, I’ll help you understand how to find it yourself. You’ll also leave with practical ideas and exercises to work on between sessions, so that your progress continues beyond the lesson.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or an improving player looking for more structure, I’d be happy to help you develop your chess. Get in touch with your current level and what you’d like to improve, and we can arrange an introductory session!
