About Kai
I am a student at Newton South High School who is passionate about chess, basketball, and helping others improve. Chess has been one of my favorite activities for years, and I enjoy the challenge of analyzing positions, learning new strategies, and competing against other players. I also play basketball at Newton South, which has helped me develop teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills. Through my experiences in both sports and chess, I have learned the importance of patience, practice, and continuous improvement. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and creating a positive, encouraging environment where students can grow and enjoy the game of chess.

I provide personalized chess lessons designed for beginners and intermediate players who want to improve their understanding of the game and become stronger, more confident players. As an experienced tournament player with an 1900+ Chess.com rapid rating, I have spent years studying and playing chess and understand the challenges players face when trying to improve.
Each lesson is customized based on the student’s goals, skill level, and areas for improvement. We will focus on important skills such as opening principles, tactical awareness, strategic planning, endgames, analyzing games, and developing better decision-making during games.
