About Yinka
I have a first degree in Child development and family studies and a Professional Diploma in Education. I have given home tutoring to 32 students individually and group tutoring of a total of about 500 students in the last 10 years. I am patient and I have mastered ways to effectively communicate with students using the most suitable teaching methodology that will help them comprehend.
I celebrate every little success of my students and I'm my students' friend because I ensure I get involved in their lives so as to eliminate any underlying factors that may hinder my students' assimilation and comprehension of their learning.
I have tutored preschoolers and nursery pupils who have had a smooth transition into primary school, I have also tutored students struggling to read and in just 4 weeks, those students are reading with a fluency of 5 when placed on a scale if 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest and before the end of the academic year, the reading fluency of such students greatly improved and is between a scale 8 to 10.
I have coached primary pupils and junior secondary students in areas where they are lagging or need improvement in their school work and such students have performed excellently well afterwards.
I have prepared students in terminal classes for terminal examinations like Primary 5 or 6 pupils as the case may be for common entrance examinations and JSS 3 students for Basic Certificate Examinations and their performance has been excellent and such students have had smooth transitions into junior secondary and senior secondary schools respectively.
I have taught in conventional schools, both primary and secondary schools for 7 years and I still remain in the educational space till date.
My top notch teaching, creative and innovative skills earned me the title "An uncommon educator" by all.
Therefore, it has and it will continue to be my joy to see students excel in their academics and other aspects of life, that is why as an uncommon educator, I don't just focus on academic goals, I intentionally impact 21st century skills to my students so I can have holistic students.

As an uncommon educator, my teaching methodology varies depending on the topic to be taught and the level of students I'm teaching.
I teach preschoolers uptill Junior secondary level in all subjects and for each topic to be taught, I use varying teaching methodologies that I know will be suitable for the lesson and for the level of student I'm teaching.
I put into consideration while preparing my lessons for the different learning styles of my students; some are visual learners, some are auditory learners, some are tactile learners and some are a blend of two or more of the learning styles. I mostly use discussion and demonstration methods when teaching.
Before starting any lesson, I first get my students to be in the mood for learning by using some hooks and starters to activate learning, then I plan my lessons using these three things: "I do", "We do" , "You do".
"I do": This means when I teach, I first do the introduction of what is to be learnt in a creative way and not just directly and I do little discussion about the topic using proper illustrations or examples as the case may be.
"We do": This is guided practice where my students and I practice together what I just explained either by together solving or illustrating as the case may be.
"You do": This is when I allow for independent practice by my students to know their level of comprehension of the lesson taught.
My lessons are learner-centred and not teacher-centred
