About Rod
I retired from full time teaching in 2021 after 20 years in the public school system in Washington State. I am currently subbing in my old district, but find I have lots of free time to share with students online. My oldest son is the Assistant Principal at our local high school and my daughter is a teacher in Arizona. My youngest son is a professional podcaster in Phoenix. I have been married for 41 years and I have a 120lb American Bulldog named Sherman. I like to fish and hunt and still play some basketball with the kids on the days my old knees will allow it! I really enjoy interacting with young folk and that helps to keep me young at heart. I am looking forward to making new acquaintances and taking on a new challenge!

I have always allowed my students to have input into their own education, tailoring lesson plans to their interests and abilities. I approach lessons with the individual student in mind and adjust accordingly. I use videos, games, interactive scenarios and discussions to inspire students to use their creativity and individualism in focused writing assignments. I am also willing to negotiate and discuss alternate reading and writing assignments that are of interest to the student. Never a dull moment with Mr G!
