About Ophelia
"Sunlight filters through the porch screens where I spent hours mimicking the fiddle tunes of older neighbors. That Appalachian porch setting shaped my musical identity more than my Bachelor of Arts in Ethnomusicology from UCLA ever could.
My 9 years of experience involve helping absolute beginners and advanced learners find their own voice. I work with self-taught players needing structure to refine their spiccato and staccato bowing or ear training.
Technical skills like bowing technique and tuning by ear are easier when you hear the rhythm first. I find joy in teaching grade exam prep for ABRSM and Trinity as a secondary focus. Music remains a communal language to me. My kitchen table is always open for a tune."

"You walk in and we immediately pick up the fiddle to find a melody by ear. This approach builds confidence before we ever touch a page of sheet music.
We focus on bowing technique to get the tone ringing true. Then we shift to specific hurdles like tuning by ear or mastering those tricky staccato passages.
My 9 years of experience means I know when to slow things down. You might find me demonstrating a phrase until it clicks. We keep the atmosphere light while tackling ABRSM or Trinity requirements. No stiff formality here.
Just steady work on the instrument. We play until the song feels like it belongs to you."
