I couldn't be any more passionate about the things I do. There is such a physicality to singing that I underestimated when I was younger. Until, I studied it as my first instrument in Goldsmiths University of London back in 2009 (Gosh, can't believe it was that long ago!!). My singing lessons focus very much on safe singing, technique, breathing and a tailored programme of songs to your likes/what best suits your voice.
Aside from this, I have a home studio, so often end up recording students and producing tracks for them to take away. Not only is this great for uploading to social media but it'sa great way of marking your progress.
Having worked in the media industry as a songwriter for over 10 years, I have often offered my students songwriting sessions too (again, with a chance to record the work). This has been such a lovely addition to lessons and I'm often told it adds therapeutic value.
Aside from my singing and songwriting, I'm currently training at masters level to be a Music Psychotherapist. I've worked with children with autism and additional needs for 12 years. Music interaction has made such a huge difference to the children's progress that I've been lucky enough to work with. I run a project called Sensory Sound (you can find us on YouTube) where I write and produce songs with sensory elements, PECS and signalong to help children with additional needs make accelerated progress.
