About Theresa
Your first session will likely be more about listening than speaking. It feels strange to focus on silence when you want to learn a language, but hearing the rhythm is the real secret. We use my Bachelor of Arts training to break down the phonetics of everyday phrases.
I bring 13 years of experience to help you navigate those tricky idioms that never appear in standard manuals. Weekly conversation recordings are reviewed together so you can track your progress over time. Expect a laid-back environment where making mistakes is just part of the creative process.

Coffee smells like morning in Montreal when I sit down to write another chanson melody. My ears were shaped by Vigneault and Leloup before I even understood the grammar behind their lyrics. Years spent performing around the city gave me a deep connection to the living language as it sounds on the street. Having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from McGill University, I view language acquisition as a form of performance art.
I have guided travellers, teens, and adults through the nuances of Québec life for 13 years. My approach blends the rigid structure of academic study with the fluid reality of daily slang. Nasal sounds and liaison rhythms feel much easier when you map them out like musical notes on a staff.
Many of my students are relocating here or simply finding their footing in a new culture. I really enjoy helping people bridge the gap between textbook French and the way people actually speak. Are you ready to start hearing the city in a new way?
