About Matthew
I am a teacher and writer. I have written 4 popular study guides for A Level Religious Studies, and I run one of the main popular A Level blogs for Religious Studies. I teach GCSE RS as well, and have experience with AQA and Edexcel GCSE RS. I absolutely love RE and Philosophy, and make sure my students are well supported. I am particularly experienced at teaching how to write, and I have taught critical thinking and the extended project, which includes research skills. I tutor both AQA Philosophy A Level and Religious Studies A Level, and I have trained as an examiner for the AQA Philosophy. I have over 20 years of experience teaching Religious Studies, including philosophy and ethics to A Level. I have also taught English Literature, EFL, Critical Thinking and Philosophy. I have been a tutor for students up to A Level, and I am currently tutoring GCSE students. I am responsive to the individual needs of students, and make sure I thoroughly understand what level they are at so that I can tailor course content for them. I blend responsive feedback into my lessons using quizzes and edtech tools to make lessons fun and engaging.

I tailor my tutoring to my student's needs. I use a mixture of direct instruction, discussion-related activities and gamification in my lessons to make them fun and motivating. Normally my lessons are an hour long. I have lots of experience of one-to-one tuition over many years. I teach students GCSE and A level. I also focus on helping students to write, something which is really key in this subject.

Matthew is a great tutor who is very enthusiastic about his subjects and really revived my interest for RS which kept me going during exam season. He is always looking for new ways to help you and is willing to adapt sessions to your needs, for me this was more of a talk through approach involving discussions which we then adapted into notes.
Matthew has lots of good resources to provide, alongside his years of experience teaching, to guide each session. He is very personable and understanding making it easy to properly engage with sessions and rearrange when needed.
