About Brian
Brian Best has been a high school band director for 15 years and a saxophone player for 30+ years. Brian attended Sam Houston State University where he graduated with a bachelor's of music in saxophone performance and a master's of music in instrumental music conducting. Brian has been the director of bands for perennial sweepstakes-winning Texas band programs for both middle school and high school. Under his direction, he has taken his bands to UIL State Marching Championships in both corps and military style. Brian is in high demand as an adjudicator for UIL events for marching band and concert and sightreading contests, and he has also been invited to guest clinic TMEA Region Bands and TMEA Jazz Bands. As a wind band composer, Brian has had several commissioned works performed by various programs across the state. As a saxophone performing artist, Brian has released two contemporary solo jazz albums and two EDM saxophone crossover albums. Brian is in high demand as a freelancing saxophone performer, recording artist, and music producer all over the country for many styles of music ranging from pop, dance, rock, jazz, and electric. He is also in demand as a saxophonist headliner and horn section leader and performer locally and all over the United States. Brian has shared the stage with many artists, such as Allen Vizzutti, Chris Vadala, Regina Belle, Althea Rene, Marion Meadows, Gerald Albright, Bobby Lyle, Ron Wilkins, and so many more. Brian has also appeared in several television performances and as a headliner for many jazz festivals, such as the Houston Jazz Festival, Beaumont Jazz Festival, Zachary Breaux Jazz Festival, Kemah Jazz Festival, and the Michigan Jazz Festival.

Learning the saxophone is super fun! Wherever you are in your journey to learn the instrument, from very new beginner to collegiate advanced, from classical style to jazz/rock style, I've got all the tools you need to get you where you would like to go as a sax player - any age, any level. - BEGINNERS: Beginners start with a ground-up basics to learning the instrument with proper care and fundamental techniques that will set you apart from other players in your class. Lesson plans include learning fingerings, music reading, proper embouchure formation, and much more. - INTERMEDIATE: Students at this level have the basics down and are ready to start tackling more upper-level techniques of the instrument before they advance to the high school level. Lessons include scales, interval studies, solo and ensemble literature, and more. - ADVANCED: Advanced and collegiate students will receive highly tailored lessons on high-level classical literature and/or jazz theory. This track is nice for students in competitive high school ensembles and collegiate groups looking to have a competitive edge. - CLASSICAL: As a multi-year Texas All-Stater and a national concerto winner, I've got the tools and tips to help your classical solos and concerto playing advance to the next level. - JAZZ: As a professional jazz musician with four albums released, I've got jazz methods and improvisational techniques that can take your jazz solos to the next level.
