About TOFUNMI
I am a graduate of the University of Lagos and a long time piano player. I experience a unique joy when I successfully teach an enthusiast how to play the piano in the shortest time span, usually 3 months. I believe a lot of tutors waste too much time on theories rather than being pragmatic with their students, and I am here to break that trend.

In my approach to piano tutoring, I prioritize a practical and hands-on learning experience, especially tailored to students who are eager to delve into contemporary and gospel music. I believe that the best way to learn the piano is by playing it, not just talking about it.
One of the cornerstones of my teaching method is incorporating the latest gospel chord approaches and progressions into lessons. Gospel music is rich with complex harmonies and rhythms that provide an excellent foundation for learning piano. By focusing on these elements, students not only learn to play beautiful and inspiring music but also gain a deeper understanding of chord structures and progression patterns that are applicable across various music genres.
While understanding music theory is important, I don't dwell excessively on it. Instead, I integrate theoretical concepts into the practical lessons, allowing students to learn and apply theory as they go. This method keeps the lessons engaging and directly relevant to the music the student wants to play. My goal is for students to be able to sit down at the piano and play confidently, rather than get bogged down by unnecessary theoretical details.
Finally, every student has unique goals and learning styles. My approach is flexible to accommodate these. Whether the student is aiming to play in a church band, compose their own music, or simply enjoy playing piano at home, I tailor lessons to meet those objectives. I emphasize creativity and encourage students to experiment with the music, making the learning process enjoyable and personalized.
