About Stephanie
Hi, I'm Stephanie Montealegre. I grew up in Southern California, and my own path to college wasn't always straightforward — I didn't grow up with much insider knowledge about how the admissions process worked, which is part of why I care so much about helping students navigate it now.
I studied anthropology and public health during undergrad at Yale, which shaped how I think about people, communities, and the systems that shape opportunity. Alongside my studies, I took on leadership roles that let me give back to my own community, including mentoring students from my high school as they applied to colleges — several of whom went on to attend schools like Columbia, UPenn, and Yale. That experience taught me how much of a difference real guidance and encouragement can make, especially for students who don't always see a clear path in front of them.
I'm currently pursuing my master's at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, and I bring that same mentorship approach to every student I work with. I take the time to understand each student's individual story, goals, and strengths, then help them build an application that reflects who they truly are — not a generic template. Whether it's brainstorming essay ideas, working through drafts, building a school list, or preparing for interviews, my goal is to make the process feel less overwhelming and more like something students can navigate with confidence.

My approach to college application coaching is personal and strategic — I get to know each student's goals and story, then help them craft applications that feel authentic rather than templated, blending big-picture strategy (school fit, positioning) with hands-on work (essays, interview prep, deadlines). As a Yale graduate now pursuing a master's at Columbia's Mailman School of Public Health, I bring both firsthand insight into what admissions committees look for and genuine empathy for the stress of the process. I work with high school juniors and seniors at any stage — from early brainstorming to final submissions.
