William Arthur Ward's words above go a long way in encapsulating my teaching philosophy. I hope that through my lessons, students are not only better equipped to deal with the technicalities of the English language, but more empowered in understanding that (their) words matter.
I have a PGCE, specialising in English Home Language (FET) and Life Orientation (SP), and experience teaching English to Grade 8 - 12. I am also a freelance writer, editor and script writer, with a Bachelor of Journalism to ground my love of story telling and meaning making.

Following a Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach, I strive to help my learners communicate clearly and confidently in English.
Whether you need help whipping a business report into shape, or delving into your own hidden depths to pen an original essay, or simply making sense of some grammar (il)logic, I will make sure you come away smiling. I always try to make lessons fun (at least, fun according to an English teacher), student-focused, and filled with life-relevant content.
I have experience in teaching CAPS, IEB and Cambridge, and welcome learners of all ages and aptitudes.
