About Keerthana
I grew up and still live in the very hot & humid city of Chennai, and somehow, have not been able to shake off the sweat-inducing, blood-warming, bodily aching art of dancing! In my defense, there was a definite lack of trying :P But much like the tropical climate, the art is bountiful.
I consider myself very privileged to have had the opportunity to have learned in depth, the two Indian classical dances- Kathak and Bharathanatyam, and wish to share all of my knowledge with the world. Learning two art forms have given me access to intricately understanding the comical nature of their contrasts, and beauty of variety. I am trained in the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara, and have an MFA degree in Bharathanatyam. I am also navigating through digital dance film storytelling, which is very exciting!
If you have a little issues with commitment, learn semi-classical, and classical contemporary choreographies, and see if you'd like to get introduced properly to the art form, or just stay to have fun. I'd like to mix it up a little with Jazz and Rock.
I believe in quality over quantity and believe you should not look back a few years and feel as though you've wasted time and resources. I also believe that I'm a better teacher than a performer, and very humbly can I pleaaase add, that I love myself as a dancer!
