About Michael
I'm a musician and producer with decades of experience writing, arranging, and producing for a multitude of artists across genres, from electronic, hip-hop, and singer-songwriter to Salsa, jazz quartets, and full-blown Broadway-style and classical orchestrations. I'm also a busy session musician, and I have released music independently, scored short films, and produced for other artists.
What I care about most as a teacher is meeting you where you are. I remember how overwhelming a blank project file and a wall of knobs can feel, so I keep things practical, patient, and encouraging — you'll make real music from the first session, not just take notes.
Students tell me I'm good at explaining the "why" behind a technique, not just the steps, so the skills actually stick. Whether you're completely new or trying to level up, I'll help you build confidence and finish work you're proud of.
I am most comfortable in Logic and Luna Pro, but I am proficient in Pro Tools as well. I'm also happy to show you some of the new DAWs like Luna and what sets them apart. My workflow now uses both Logic and Luna for different purposes.

I teach music production as a complete craft, from composition through performance, to arranging, mixing and mastering.
I'll teach you not just to push buttons in a DAW, but to understand *why* a track works.
We'll cover three connected areas:
production (recording, arranging, mixing, and sound design in your DAW of choice),
composition (writing melodies, building chord progressions, and structuring a song that goes somewhere),
and theory (just enough to make your choices intentional rather than accidental).
My approach is hands-on and project-based. Instead of abstract lectures, we work on your actual music. I'll screen-share, critique your project files, and give you concrete next steps each session. A typical lesson blends a short concept, a live demonstration, and guided practice you can repeat on your own.
What sets me apart is that I bridge the technical and the musical. Plenty of tutors can show you a workflow; I'll also help you understand harmony, arrangement, and the "feel" that separates a demo from a finished piece.
These lessons suit beginners who want a strong foundation, hobbyists stuck at the "it never sounds pro" stage, and songwriters who can write but struggle to produce. No prior theory required — just curiosity and something you want to make.
