About Oliver
I am a student studying Jazz Performance, with 11 years of guitar playing experience. I have been successfully teaching guitar to some friends over zoom during the various lockdowns, and they have made more progress than I've seen from lessons that cost £30+

I don't want you to think about it like you are learning how to play the guitar, but rather that you are learning how to express yourself musically through the guitar. You will become a musician, not a guitarist. This is the most important distinction between my guitar teaching philosophy and that of most of the guitar teaching I see today. I've been playing guitar since I can remember, and I think that this gives me the advantage of treating and respecting the guitar as an extension of my musical self, rather than a party trick. I want to remove all vanity from music. I think that Jazz is where vanity is completely expelled, as the music is all that anyone cares about. Because of this, after you are comfortable playing the guitar and can pick up a tune in a few hours, I will focus mainly on improvisation, as that is where expression really comes from. Getting in the zone, as it were. So get in the zone with me.
