About Leif
I’m a guitar tutor with over 3 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Science in Audio Engineering with a focus on guitar. I’m passionate about improvisation, especially within jazz and blues subgenres, and love helping students find their own musical voice. My teaching style is supportive, engaging, and goal-oriented, perfect for school students, hobbyists, and professionals alike. I specialize in modal scales, arpeggios, dominant seventh theory, and bebop phrasing. These tools help build a strong foundation for creative improvisation. I have worked with students from intermediate to advanced levels, including those preparing for professional gigs. Each lesson is tailored to your unique goals and musical interests. I emphasize building confidence and spontaneity on the instrument. Together, we explore new ideas and develop your personal style. My aim is to make learning enjoyable and meaningful. Whether you want to jam, compose, or perform, I’m here to guide you. Let’s begin a rewarding journey of spontaneous musical expression.

My teaching approach centers on developing a strong rhythmic foundation, essential for any guitarist. I focus on rhythm guitar techniques, diverse strumming patterns, picking dynamics, and groove development across multiple genres. Each lesson is designed to enhance your timing, feel, and ability to lock in with a band or backing track. I emphasize hands-on practice and provide consistent, constructive feedback to ensure steady progress. Whether you are exploring fingerstyle or leading worship music, I tailor sessions to fit your style and goals. I support students in building confidence with their rhythm parts, making sure they understand how to create a solid pulse that drives the music. With patience and encouragement, I help learners overcome challenges and refine their technique. This method keeps lessons engaging and productive. You will develop not only technical skills but also musical intuition. My goal is to empower you to play rhythm guitar with both precision and heart. Together, we will build your groove and timing until you feel comfortable and expressive. You'll confidently lay down the perfect rhythm every time you play.
