About Felicity
With 10 years of experience in teaching violin, I specialize in guiding students from school through to college level, helping them not only learn to play but also develop a deep passion for music. My teaching style is built on creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel motivated and confident to explore the violin at their own pace. I believe in a tailored approach, recognizing that each student is unique, and I adapt my lessons to meet their individual needs, learning styles, and goals. I use a combination of traditional techniques and innovative methods to make learning fun and effective. This includes interactive exercises, ear training, and integrating music theory to help students understand the structure of the pieces they play. I also emphasize the importance of emotional expression in music, helping students connect with the emotional depth of each piece they learn. Whether you're a beginner or advancing toward an intermediate level, my lessons are designed to build technique, foster musicality, and develop a strong sense of rhythm and harmony. In addition to violin instruction, I offer support in music theory, performance techniques, and sight-reading, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. My goal is not only to teach you how to play the violin but also to help you build confidence and a lifelong love for music.

My teaching methodology for violin is centered around communication, empathy, collaboration, and integrity, ensuring a holistic learning experience for each student. I believe that every student is unique, and my approach adapts to their individual needs and learning styles. Communication plays a key role in my lessons as I encourage open dialogue, helping students feel comfortable expressing their challenges and progress. I focus on building a strong foundation, starting with proper technique, music theory, and musical expression, then gradually progressing to more complex pieces as confidence grows. Empathy drives me to understand the emotional and cognitive aspects of learning, allowing me to offer personalized guidance that nurtures both skill and passion. Collaboration is important in my lessons; I create a supportive, interactive environment where students and I work together to solve musical challenges. Lastly, integrity ensures that my teaching is always ethical and transparent, building trust and confidence with my students. Beyond violin, I offer lessons in music theory and other relevant subjects, ensuring a well-rounded approach to learning music.
