I use debates to get students involved in thinking critically about the subject. They usually go to lengths to read and rebut their opponents argument in the hope of winning the debate. See attached as an example. You can also use Social Media to engage them in topics of interest but linking it to the class content. Today's digital natives use this form of communication frequently, so they are usually eager to participate.
