About Yueqi
Hello there, my name is Yueqi, my interest towards animals and biology began when I was a child. I love to watch documentaries about nature, I have many pets (eg. cat, rabbit, fish, turtle, parrot, hamster...), and I finally decided to choose biology as my career path. If you are a little girl/boy who are obsessed with animals or biology, I can relate.
I'm about to graduate from the University of Edinburgh on July 2024, with a 1st or 2.1 degree (expected, some scores are not available yet). My honours degree is BSc Biological Sciences (Development, Regeneration and Stem Cells). I decided to study stem cells because it's highly meaningful for human beings. It belongs to an exploding field called regenerative medicine, which aims to cure human diseases by inducing regeneration of the patients' own cells or organs. One of the example was a young boy got a first degree burn, the scientists took a little bit of his skin with the epidermal stem cells and induced the stem cells to differentiate and proliferate into a larger part of skin, grafted back to the boy and finally helped him survived.
Although this field is quite novel and not yet largely used in clinical, it is indeed very meaningful for treating human diseases. Cancer is also highly related to this. That's why I chose it as my major.
I will pursue a master's program called MSc Genes, Drugs and Stem Cells -- Novel Therapies at Imperial College London from Sep 2024.

I think lessons around one hour should be good for students to focus. I can teach everything related to biology, animal behaviour, cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, stem cells, regeneration, developmental biology, evolutionary biology....
At the beginning of each lesson, I will give an overall view of the field, start with an important question or problem that need to be solved. By introducing the problem and how it is related to humans or nature, I think students would be more interested in learning more details.
My lessons could be adjusted for students at different ages, and I could also help undergraduate students who are studying biological sciences.
Although I don't have any past experience in teaching or tutoring, I do highly interested in telling fun facts or explaining things to my parents or my friends while visiting museums.
