-I bring 15+ years of dedicated Kathak training and performance experience, ensuring authentic technique and strong fundamentals.

-I focus on correct posture, rhythm, expression, and technique, helping students build a strong and safe dance foundation.

My Teaching Approach
I believe dance is a balance of discipline, expression, and joy. My teaching approach blends the strong foundation of Indian classical Kathak with the energy and versatility of Bollywood, helping students grow not just as dancers, but as confident performers. I focus on correct technique, musicality, and storytelling, while ensuring each class remains engaging and enjoyable.
Teaching Methodology & Techniques
-Strong Foundations First: Emphasis on posture, body alignment, footwork (tatkaar), hand movements (mudras), spins (chakkars), and rhythm (laya).
-Step-by-Step Learning: Movements are broken down slowly and clearly, then gradually built into sequences and choreography.
-Rhythm & Musicality: Use of counts, bols, and claps to help students understand taal and timing deeply.
-Expression (Abhinaya): Guidance on facial expressions, emotions, and storytelling—especially important for Kathak and expressive Bollywood pieces.
-Adapted Teaching: Lessons are customized based on the student’s age, level, body comfort, and learning pace.
-Safe & Sustainable Practice: Focus on warm-ups, flexibility, and technique to prevent injuries and build long-term strength.
Typical Lesson Plan
A standard class usually includes:
1. Warm-up & Conditioning – Gentle stretches, ankle and core strengthening
2. Technique Practice – Tatkaar, chakkars, hand movements, and basic exercises
3. Theory-in-Practice – Understanding rhythm, bols, and musical structure (age/level appropriate)
4. Choreography / Combinations – Kathak compositions or Bollywood routines
5. Expression & Performance Quality – Facial expressions, transitions, stage presence
6. Cool Down & Feedback – Stretching and personalized feedback for improvement
(For advanced students, lessons may also include repertoire building, performance polishing, and exam or stage preparation.)
