About Emily
I was always one of the kids that enjoyed playing teacher with my younger sister as student. From there, during my dance days, I worked as a teaching assistant to my ballet instructor, and that really unlocked my love of teaching as a profession.
I love my craft of English and writing instruction, and I have now been teaching either at the college level, high-school level, and with private tutoring for over 5 years.
I have a master's degree in English from King's College London and a graduate degree in communication studies from West Virginia University. I have been trained in SRSD writing, executive functioning and Wilson language training.

When meeting new clients for the first time, I will give parents an intake form to complete. This gives me a sense of your child's strengths and learning style. After this, we set up a quick phone call to schedule our first meeting, which will be a trial run for fit.
Many of my students have learning differences. I have worked with students with dyslexia, ADHD, and anxiety disorders. They are all brilliant. Many are in private schools in NYC, but I also work with public school students in person and online from anywhere!
While the bulk of my students ages 12-18, I currently have two clients under the age of 10.
