I believe that aspects and concerns surrounding the environment should be approached hollistically; no learner truely understands a concept until he or she has a decent scope of what it entitles. I would start my learner(s) off on a foundation phase surrounding concrete aspects of Geography. Examples include different river structures, soil formation, cloud formation, different agricultural systems etc. I will then attempt to draw a comparison between human activity and the environment. Examples include water and air pollution. Deforestation and desertification. Acid rain. Urbanisation. Having a overview of different natural structures as well as the effects of human development on these structures, i will attempt to establish the dynamic cause-effect relationships between humanity and its surroundings. Examples include the environmental implications of big dam construction, the effect of Urbanisation and globalisation and the concequenses of global warming.
My overall goal will be to give my learner(s) a sufficient understanding of natural structures in our environment, and our relationship with these natural structures.
