About Roger
With over 30 years of experience in education, law, and instructional design, I bring a wealth of knowledge, a deep commitment to student success, and a passion for teaching. I have designed and delivered a wide range of courses in business, law, communication, and entrepreneurship, and currently work with both undergraduate and graduate students as well as adult learners in continuing education. Teaching Methodology and Techniques
My tutoring approach is grounded in learner-centered pedagogy, with a strong emphasis on fostering critical thinking, real-world application, and independent problem-solving. Drawing from over 30 years of experience in education and instructional design, I integrate active learning strategies such as Socratic questioning, case-based learning, project-based assessments, and the use of digital tools including Moodle, Kahoot, Canvas, and Articulate Storyline. I regularly incorporate Artificial Intelligence tools to personalize learning and enhance interactivity, aligning with my specialization in Digital Learning from my Master of Education at the University of Toronto.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical session begins with a brief diagnostic or reflection to assess prior understanding. This is followed by a short interactive lecture or explainer segment, integrating visuals or real-life examples tailored to the student’s field. I then move into applied activities—discussion, scenario analysis, or mini-projects—often using digital collaboration tools. The final segment focuses on reflection, feedback, and identifying follow-up goals. For asynchronous learners, I build structured modules with video, interactive quizzes, and peer-reviewed assignments.

What distinguishes me is the breadth and depth of my teaching across disciplines—from law and business to communication and psychology—as well as my curriculum development expertise. I’ve taught and designed over 30 courses at multiple institutions including Trent University, Lambton College, Durham College, and others. I also bring a rare blend of academic and industry experience, having practiced law, managed corporate training for 25,000+ staff, and co-founded a youth services agency. My ability to relate complex material to diverse student needs—whether MBA candidates, adult learners, or newcomers to Canada—has consistently earned me recognition, including the 2023 Outstanding Faculty Award at Lambton College.
