About MaryRose
Hello! My name is Mary, and I am a passionate and dedicated tutor with a deep interest in the connections between history, politics, and literature. I believe that understanding history is essential to understanding the world we live in today—and that literature plays a powerful role in conveying the political and social shifts that shape our lives. This is why I place such strong emphasis on context and foundational understanding in all my lessons. I bring a high level of subject expertise, having achieved two A*s and an A at A-level, and I currently work with 180 Degrees Consulting at the University of Warwick, partnering with NGOs to create meaningful social impact. This hands-on experience has strengthened my ability to think critically, communicate clearly, and work with individuals from different cross-cultural backgrounds. As a tutor, I am honest, driven, and deeply committed to my students’ success. I take pride in walking students through tasks in a way that is clear, thorough, and tailored to their unique learning styles. I am patient, adaptable, and always ensure that no question goes unanswered. With A*A*A at A-level in English Literature, Politics and History, as well as on track for a first in my current degree, I bring a strong depth of subject knowledge alongside a clear understanding of the value of education and the steps needed to achieve success. My teaching approach is rooted in clarity and step-by-step walkthroughs of each topic or task. I place strong emphasis on making sure every question is answered fully, and that students feel confident with the material by the end of the session. Having worked with students of all ages and abilities, I am experienced in identifying what each learner needs to succeed. I am highly adaptable and always tailor my methods to suit each individual's learning style. My sessions typically run for an hour, though I am happy to extend the time based on any needs or preferences.
