Warm, friendly, and ready to teach - English tutor with Ria

Following some personal struggles I had to postpone my final exams for my first year of university. Feeling unprepared I decided to get in contact with Ria in order to help me study for my exams and complete my coursework essays. In the span of two months, Ria taught me six months worth of work. She helped me develop a system of revision and essay writing which worked for me, that I continue to use today. She has an extensive knowledge of literature and had no trouble answering any of my questions. She was dedicated to helping me pass my exams and write successful essays. In my years of schooling I can honestly say no other teacher has been as helpful, considerate, supportive, and encouraging. Before we parted for the holidays Ria presented me with a folder of organised notes to study from as well as practice questions to work on AND a note of encouragement for when I felt at a loss. I entered my exams feeling fully prepared for the first time and handed in my essays with confidence.

Ria has kindly agreed to direct a piece of drama that involves teenagers and adults. She has demonstrated great care in all aspects of execution of our piece. Ria adapted the script to suit a London audience. She produced a detailed schedule for all planned rehearsals. Time was spent in coordinating actors to attend rehearsal sessions. Conference calls were attended to decide on the best way forward for the drama. Liaisons were made with the technical team in India to create voice overs for the actors to suit the local audience.
Being a teacher myself I understand the value of preparing for a lesson and in our first rehearsal it was clear Ria had thought through the session and what she hoped to achieve. The session began with a warm up activity with the actors and Ria grasped from this that the teenagers were a lot more reserved than the adults. Her encouragement and interaction with all the actors was amazing. She could connect with all of them.
Where there was a reluctant actress, Ria handled the situation with sensitivity and did not embarrass or force the student.
Her own drama skills are impressive. She performs with flair, being able to easily demonstrate the different personalities required for our piece of Drama.
Ria is a delight to work with. She is clearly passionate about drama and directing. Her teaching, acting and directing skills are excellent and if this her state as a student, the future is very bright for her!

I was introduced to Ria by a friend who had highly recommended her. I had received feedback from my tutors at university that my work lacked depth, critique and structure. Ria provided me with the necessary tools to help develop my writing skills and ensure my style was in line with my university's expectations.

Her method of teaching was commendable. She is calm, clear in her explanation and always approachable.
