Learning a new language is not easy thing! It requires to create new neural connections in the brain. We can illustrate this idea by thinking about a field where no one has ever walked. If people start to walk everytime in the same steps it will surely create a new road! Similarly we will create a new map in your brain, the french map.
But in a forest, it is easier to create new paths by using the ones already there, so that we can have shortcuts to go to our destination.
