About Derek
"Students often arrive hearing the scratchy friction of a bow against string. I focus on smoothing that sound using scales and arpeggios.
After 13 years of teaching, I have guided 67 students through the nuances of shifting positions and vibrato. Intonation is critical.
I incorporate ear training into every session so you hear pitch accurately. We explore classical repertoire together. My goal is helping you find your voice. I am the mentor who bridges the gap from amateur to stage."

"Intonation issues often plague developing players who struggle with finger placement. You deserve clarity when navigating the neck. By using the technical foundation from my MMus at Berklee, I assist with double stops and complex shifting. 7 years of experience informs how I address these hurdles.
It is simple. We work on precision."
