About Isla
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance and Music Education and have 6 years of experience teaching students of different ages and skill levels. My teaching philosophy emphasizes combining technical skill with expressive artistry in a warm, encouraging environment. I guide students to develop confidence, musicality, and a lifelong love of music.
Lessons are customized to meet individual goals. Beginners focus on foundational techniques, simple repertoire, and posture; intermediate learners refine phrasing, intonation, and expression; advanced students prepare for auditions, recitals, and complex pieces.
Each lesson includes exercises, repertoire practice, and constructive feedback to ensure meaningful progress. Outside teaching, I perform, attend masterclasses, and explore diverse repertoire to keep lessons fresh and engaging. Helping students achieve technical skill, expressive ability, and confidence remains the most fulfilling part of my work.

My violin lessons are structured to help students build solid technical skills while nurturing expressive musicality. Each session covers bowing techniques, finger positioning, intonation, vibrato, phrasing, dynamics, and interpretation of repertoire. Lessons combine exercises, sight-reading, scales, etudes, and ensemble playing to strengthen coordination, confidence, and musical understanding. I encourage experimentation, creativity, and active engagement, creating a supportive environment where students can explore and develop their individual musical voice.
Lessons are personalized according to student level. Beginners focus on posture, basic finger placement, bow control, and simple pieces to establish strong foundations. Intermediate learners refine intonation, phrasing, and expression while learning more challenging repertoire. Advanced students work on technical mastery, stylistic interpretation, solo performance preparation, and stage presence. Each lesson includes structured exercises, personalized feedback, and performance practice to ensure steady growth and musical progression.
The ultimate goal of my violin lessons is to help students combine technical precision with expressive performance. Learners gain confidence in playing, develop a deeper understanding of music, and learn to communicate emotion through their instrument. Lessons balance disciplined practice with creative exploration, making learning both rewarding and enjoyable.
