About Garrett
I am a violin tutor with over 3 years of teaching experience and a Graduate Diploma in Violin Pedagogy. My lessons combine violin performance with music theory, aural skills, and sight reading. I believe strong technical ability is built on a deep understanding of musical structure. Students preparing for music theory exams benefit from my integration of advanced harmony concepts into practical violin work. We explore scales, intervals, and chord progressions through targeted bowing and fingering exercises. This makes abstract theory tangible and easy to apply. I also work with students who want to strengthen their overall musical fluency. My teaching style blends precision with encouragement. We focus on clean technique, expressive phrasing, and confident performance. Sight reading and ear training are part of every lesson. By combining listening, analysis, and practice, students grow faster and more confidently. My goal is to help you become a well-rounded violinist with strong theoretical skills.

My teaching approach focuses on building strong sight-reading skills for violin. I guide students in understanding ledger lines, complex rhythms, and multi-part scores. Lessons are systematic and build step-by-step. We develop visual-to-finger coordination so your hands respond instantly to what you see on the page. I work especially well with The Musical Theatre Enthusiast and The Worship Singer. These learners often need to pick up new music quickly and confidently. We practice rapid reading through varied repertoire. Exercises include rhythm drills, note recognition games, and score analysis. I teach strategies for breaking down difficult passages into manageable sections. This makes reading less intimidating and more enjoyable. Over time, students gain the ability to play unfamiliar pieces almost instantly. My aim is to make sight-reading feel as natural as speaking. With these skills, you’ll approach any new score with ease and confidence.
