About Ivy
I have 13 years of experience teaching violin and hold a PhD in Violin Pedagogy. Throughout my career, I have guided students through different stages of musical development, helping them improve technique, performance ability, and artistic confidence. Supporting learners as they grow remains one of the most fulfilling aspects of my profession.
My teaching style focuses on careful instruction, adaptability, and encouragement. I believe every student learns differently and deserves lessons that match their individual strengths and needs. Building confidence alongside technical ability is a key part of my approach.
Outside teaching, I enjoy chamber music, score research, and exploring advanced string pedagogy. These experiences enrich my lessons and allow me to share valuable insights with students. I am passionate about helping learners achieve meaningful progress and lasting enjoyment of music.

My violin lessons are designed to help students build a strong technical foundation while developing confidence in their musical abilities. We focus on bow control, left-hand coordination, posture alignment, tone refinement, rhythm accuracy, and expressive phrasing. Every lesson combines structured learning with practical exercises that encourage steady improvement.
Students work through scale routines, technical studies, repertoire development, listening exercises, and performance preparation activities. I explain concepts clearly and provide step-by-step guidance that helps learners approach challenges with confidence. Lessons are adapted to suit individual goals and learning preferences.
I enjoy helping students develop both skill and musical understanding. Through constructive feedback and patient support, learners become more comfortable with their instrument and more confident in their performances. My goal is to create lessons that are motivating, effective, and enjoyable.
