About LISA
Hi! I'm Thương, a Vietnamese teacher from Hanoi – the heart of Vietnam's culture.
I'm a patient, cheerful, friendly tutor who is passionate about helping international learners speak Vietnamese naturally and confidently.
In my lessons, I use real-life stories and everyday conversations to help you not only improve your Vietnamese, but also understand the culture behind the language. Whether you're focusing on grammar or communication, I will always tailor the lessons to what you need most — so that you can see fast and meaningful progress.
Whether you are:
A complete beginner starting your Vietnamese journey
Planning a trip to Vietnam and want to speak like a local
Working or doing business in Vietnam and seeking deeper connections
Moving to Vietnam to live with your loved ones
Or simply fascinated by the Vietnamese language and culture
— I have a personalized roadmap just for you.
I’ve worked with students from Japan, South Korea, the U.S., Germany, China, and more – helping them not only master the Vietnamese language but also deeply understand the culture and people of Vietnam.
I teach in the Northern Vietnamese accent (Hanoi dialect). I also speak English (TOEIC 800+) and Japanese (JLPT N2), which allows me to explain difficult concepts in an easy and understandable way.
Outside of teaching, I love traveling, exploring, and taking international friends to discover local food, cultural sites, and hidden gems around Hanoi.
I hold a professional certificate in Teaching Vietnamese as a Foreign Language.
With over 5 years of experience, I have taught students of all levels – from absolute beginners to advanced learners aiming to use Vietnamese for work and daily life.

Perfect! Vietnamese is a difficult language for native English speakers to learn.
Thương (Lisa) takes the correct academic approach to learning this language, in that the first step is understanding the six different tones. From there, we have moved on to numbers, the alphabet and simple conversation. We are currently learning time and days of the week.
It is not enough just to expect to learn Vietnamese with just one session per week; you will also need to devote time every day of the week to learning what Thương covers in her lessons.
Thương is punctual, has patience and is a pleasant person.- A very good start. You learned quickly and communicated well during the lesson. Looking forward to our next class.LISA's response :
Perfect! Thuong was patient and created a warm atmosphere which made it easy to feel confident during the lesson. She also did a great job of explaining and demonstrating the different tones in Vietnamese. I look forward to having many more lessons with Thuong!
- Chris was engaged and eager to learn during our Vietnamese lesson. He participated actively and understood the material well. I look forward to supporting his Vietnamese learning journey.LISA's response :
