About Lynn
I have been teaching and tutoring students from around the world for 20 years. I have taught in community ESL programs, workplaces and three universities. At Northeastern University, where I taught for 10 years, I helped build a program for international students, creating new classes and writing curriculum for them. Although I have spent years with college age students with high levels of education, I am just as comfortable teaching elderly first-time students and young children, with all experiences being equally enjoyable and fulfilling. And because I enjoy teaching and getting to know my students, I can safely say that my students remember me and their time with me in a very positive way.

As a teacher and tutor, I believe that the more involved in their own learning a student is, the more excited she or he will be, and the learning process will be accelerated. Together, we assess what the student's strengths and weaknesses are, and then I form a curriculum that will get the best results. My classes are based on a participatory method of teaching, and they are always interesting, supportive and enjoyable. Don't we all learn best when we are having a good, productive time? A typical lesson plan will include work on the various linquistic skill sets, with a focus on what the student needs the most at that time. So it will include working on speaking and pronunciation, writing, and reading, with one exercise leading to the next. I have extensive experience in teaching all ages, and levels from kindergarden to graduate school, and have taught people from every continent in the world; so I can teach anyone, regardless of their needs. I have taught everything from grammar, writing, vocabulary, pronunciation and test prep, so ther is no subject or skill that I am not experienced in. I am also very familiar with the various cultures that my past students have come from, so I am very comfortable in the class and make my students comfortable as well. So let's get started!

It is my pleasure to provide a letter of recommendation on behalf of Lynn Currier in support of her application for an ESL teaching position. I am an associate teaching professor in the American Classroom and Global Pathways (GPAC) Programs in the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University.
I have worked with Lynn since the 2014-2015 academic year, as she has taught several sections of the academic reading and writing courses that I oversee. In this role, I have conducted two classroom observations of Lynn’s classes and remain in frequent contact with her to discuss the course and share materials and teaching ideas. It was always clear to me that Lynn is very knowledgeable of English language teaching methods. She strives to make her English classes as student-centered as possible, which is evident in her class activities and tasks. Her additional strengths include excellent classroom management skills, an ability to engage all students in learning, and an immense passion for helping them succeed both in our program and beyond. She maintains a friendly rapport with students, and they respect her. I too appreciate her cooperative spirit and dedication to our students and truly enjoy working with her.
Lynn is an intuitive and highly knowledgeable teacher who can teach a wide range of ESL courses and inspire students to work hard while enjoying learning. I highly recommend her for a teaching position in which she can capitalize on her extensive experience working with international students.
