About Sourav Sekhar
Hello & Welcome!
For the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of helping students unravel the power of language and the stories of our shared human history. Teaching these two subjects together is my passion because they naturally fuel one another—learning history and culture helps us understand great literature, and mastering English gives us the voice to share our own ideas about the world.

The Interdisciplinary Approach: I believe English and Social Science naturally belong together. I teach literature through the lens of history, and history through the power of storytelling. This helps students see how societies function and how human expression evolves.
Inquiry-Based Learning: Rather than just lecturing, I guide students to ask the right questions. We focus on the "why" and "how" of historical events and literary themes, encouraging deep critical thinking rather than simple rote memorization.
The Hook (5–10 mins): We start with a thought-provoking prompt, a primary source image, a short quote, or a quick current event connection to bridge the past/literature to the present day.
Core Concept & Instruction (15–20 mins): A brief, interactive lecture or guided reading where we introduce the day's main historical era, grammatical concept, or literary device.
Collaborative/Guided Practice (15–20 mins): Students actively apply what they just learned. This could be participating in a debate, analyzing a historical document together, or workshopping a paragraph.
Independent Application (10 mins): Time for students to solidify their understanding through a brief writing exercise or critical thinking question.
Exit Ticket (5 mins): A quick review where students summarize the day's takeaway, allowing me to gauge their understanding and plan for the next lesson.
