I love helping my students learn, and my philosophy involves respecting them, being approachable, and teaching them how to be confident in their own work instead of using me as just crutch for homework. Every person has their own way of seeing the world, their own ways of learning, of organizing, and their own approaches to the value of knowledge. Instead of trying to force everyone to bend to one standard, I help a student learn about themselves, find their weakness's and work towards their strengths, and slowly teach them through example how they can apply this to their own methods of learning new materials, organizing information and assignments, and developing a greater understanding for knowledge.

Phill is fun! He's quirky... my son just loves him. His way of explaining math really opened up my son's willingness to actually value why he was being "forced" to learn it.
We started off with just math but was able to relate with my son on such a deep level we got him doing other school projects with him -- (especially relating with my son with his gaming, a way that my wife and I never could). We even gained enough trust to have him take our son to Lagoon! (My wife and I get severely motion-sick and can't keep up with our boy's love for roller coasters)
Phill is versed in several different learning platforms for math and his love for teaching is very apparent. We saw immediate results and his ability to motivate my son was sorely needed.
Highly recommended... We have been seeing Phill multiple times every week for over a year now.View more recommendations

Details
My general rule on rates is $20/hr (but I only charge for the hour I work 1 on 1 with the student), with travel time and extra prep time outside of the tutoring included for no additional cost.
However I can do $15 an hour, but I will additionally charge this hourly rate for travel time, prep time, and time spent communicating with teachers and other academic sources as required for the student. Additional activities outside of academic (such as rewarded good behavior or success's) are not charged for.
I will also only charge $20 an hour, even with multiple students.
