About David
Hello! My name is David. I've been in worship ministry for over 20 years, a worship leader for over 15 years, and a singer/songwriter for 15 years. My main instrument is electric guitar, but I also play acoustic guitar, piano, drums, bass, and saxophone. I have experience with jazz, classical, folk, rock, and worship. I currently teach college-level guitar lessons at a local university and have 3+ years of music teaching experience. My lessons are geared toward any beginner and intermediate students. I teach advanced electric guitar for worship electric guitarists who want to bring their playing to a professional level.
Some of my hobbies are long-distance running (I know I’m crazy), craft coffee, and caring for my wonderful wife and my beloved daughter. I absolutely love songwriting and hope to professionally record my original music one day.

I focus on the longevity of guitar playing and future enjoyment of the craft with song-based learning to keep student’s focus and momentum. I love seeing the expression of a student when they realize that they can actually play guitar like they want to - the hope in their eyes and the joy on their faces. I work very well with all personality types, and can listen and discern what they should be working on. I give constructive feedback and clear next-steps in every lesson. I believe music is a language and teach through that perspective - lessons are meant to redirect your learning and to give you the best pathway to be able to speak the language of music clearly and naturally.
A typical lesson starts with a review of what you practiced through the week, tips on what to fix, and a new skill or section of a song to work through for the next week. I center my teaching around songs so that students can immediately see progress and enjoyment in their learning.
