About Moustafa
I have recently graduated from a bachelor of mechanical engineering form UNSW where I have worked as a tutor both at the University and in private, teaching all kinds of courses in mechanical, aerospace, and mechatronics engineering. I have helped more than 30 students not only pass courses they were stuck with but to completely transform and develop their way of thinking. Upon graduation, I have realized I have grown attached to this academic life and decided to pursue a PhD in computational combustion modelling as my dream is to work in rocket propulsion one day. I am also spearheading the teaching of thermodynamic courses at the various levels in the degree where I collaborate closely with the course convenors to develop and deliver updated and improved courses that specifically target any current industry needs.

I am a first-class honours mechanical engineering graduate from UNSW currently pursuing a PhD in computational combustion modelling. I am an experienced teacher with a great track record in teaching both in the university and privately. My teaching strategy focuses more on developing the students by teaching them the way to think and problem solve rather than just simply answering their questions. The problem with most students is not the lack of knowledge but the inability to organize THAT knowledge and think in the right ways using THAT knowledge. This is a problem that studying alone cannot solve on its own, and it is my job to help students think in a more structured manner. By continuously monitoring their approaches and directing them to a more robust method of analysis, my students not only eventually receive a boost in their confidence but also develop a more organised way of thinking and a reliable framework for problem-solving.
With the way mass education is currently conducted in learning institutions, learning is no longer a tailored experience instead the systems relies on individuals' natural abilities which gives some students an unfair advantage. It's my job to try and make sure that all my students are able to understand the content they are presented with, by tailoring my teaching approach and explaining seemingly daunting topics in a way every student is able to digest and understand. This strategy has proven successful over the years as attested by my very pleased students as they claim that not only has it helped them navigate difficult courses but also whenever they have faced any challenge in life, be it work related or otherwise. It is therefore very common for me to have the same student attending my lessons for years perfecting those skills.
I never go too quickly assuming you already know the concepts involved, but I rather pause and make sure you understand one concept before moving to the next. After all, that got you confused in the first place is how lecturers move too quickly and I won't be doing you any good if I do the same. Therefore I adjust my pace according to your preference, be it quick if you are a student who wants a quick recap of the concepts covered, or slow if you require building a more profound understanding of the course material or even developing a solid understanding of the basics.
I teach all kinds of students, whether you are a struggling student, a high achieving student looking for guidance and inspiration, or even a mature aged professional returning to university to do further studies; as long as I am able to help, I am happy to assist you with your studies, and we will work hard together to make sure you are happy too!
