About Shailaja
Learn to Bake, Cook and Discover New Cuisine with Shy, a Globally Experienced Culinary Instructor." I'm Shy (Shailaja Desai), a certified Culinary Instructor with over 16 years of experience in hosting cooking and baking workshops for Adults and Kids, both in person and virtually. I'm now based in Toronto after a journey of teaching across the globe, between Dubai, New Jersey & Mumbai. I have a background in Food Science and Technology and I'm a baker by profession. The workshops I conduct specialize in Baking, Bread making, Indian Cuisine & International Cuisine and Gluten-free baking and cooking. My most recent experience relates to heading the bakery department at a hospitality institute in Mumbai, and collaborating with Masterchef Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khazana by creating digital content for his YouTube channel. Most of my recipes focus on easy and wholesome cooking for a healthy lifestyle. My method of teaching is very hands-on with all details of the recipe and ingredients provided. I'm extremely patient and while my workshops are informative and fun, I do believe in creating great food experiences whereby participants can learn the culinary nuances, learn a bit about food science and create outstanding food for themselves and their families.
