About Emilie
With over 25 years of experience teaching art and art history, I bring a museum-based approach that connects students directly to the world of art. I hold an M.A. in Museum Studies from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and a B.A. in Art History from Colby College. As Director of Education at the Rosenbach Museum & Library in Philadelphia, I design and teach collection-based programs for all ages. Previously, I taught History of Art at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and coordinated Teacher Programs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where I led professional development for thousands of educators. My teaching blends deep historical knowledge with an engaging, conversational style that helps learners connect ideas across time and culture. Whether you’re preparing for exams, writing essays, or simply exploring the visual arts, I offer customized tutoring that builds confidence, clarity, and lasting appreciation for art.
