About MacKenzie
I am an English/Creative Writing student at UBC with a passion for teaching! I took Honours English in high school, and graduated with Academic Honours and Principal's List in 2018. I have experience coaching and volunteer-teaching in schools, as well as speaking to ESL university students. I have 2 published works of poetry as well as 2 awards in writing.

My classes are intended for grades K-12. I'm able to help with beginning to read and write, all the way to resumé and cover letter writing, and everything in between! When it comes to English, my lesson style depends on the student and what they're looking to learn. If they need help writing a piece, I will sit down with them and brainstorm ideas for the piece, and then work through the writing process with them. After we have a rough draft, I will teach the student how to self-edit and check grammar, as well as introduce them to tools and technology that can help them do this. If a student needs help with reading, spelling, or grammar, I come up with exercises designed to teach them and help them remember.
