About Lewis
I am an upper-intermediate university Japanese student with over four years of study experience. Alongside my studies, I volunteer as a teacher in an intermediate Japanese class and work in a Japanese restaurant where Japanese is the primary language of communication, giving me plenty of real-life Japanese usage experience.
I teach because I genuinely enjoy helping others learn. As a self-taught learner, I remember facing many challenges that seemed extremely difficult at first, only to realize later that they were much easier with the right guidance. I want to share the strategies and insights I wish I had known when I started.
My lessons are supportive, practical, with a strong focus on real-life Japanese and natural conversation. Whether you're a complete beginner or an intermediate learner, I'm committed to helping you build confidence and enjoy the learning process.

I believe the best way to learn Japanese is by using it, not just studying it. My lessons focus on helping students build confidence in real conversations while developing a solid understanding of grammar, vocabulary, reading, and listening skills.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and may include:
- Conversation practice and speaking exercises.
- Grammar explanations and guided practice.
- Vocabulary building.
- Reading and listening activities.
- Pronunciation and natural expression coaching.
- Review of previous lessons (Worksheets).
I have been mostly self-studying Japanese for over four years and currently attend an upper-intermediate Japanese course at university. I also volunteer as a teacher in an intermediate-level Japanese class, where I assist students with their learning and communication skills.
Additionally, I work in a Japanese restaurant where Japanese is the primary language used between staff. As a result, I use Japanese daily, with much of my day-to-day communication taking place in Japanese rather than English.
My lessons are suitable for:

- Elementary and intermediate learners.
- High school and university students.
- Adults interested in learning Japanese for travel, work, or personal interest.
- Learning seeking to have fun while learning.

Perfect! Lewis is a good tutor. Made Japanese far less intimidating that it first seemed, gave me good advice and pointers on how to approach the language as a beginner and an overall very enjoyable lesson. I hope to continue my studies with him moving forward!
