About Maithili
Over the past five years, I have served as a Teaching Assistant in Mathematics at the undergraduate level, where I have developed a strong foundation in academic instruction and student support. In this role, I have assisted faculty in delivering course content, conducted tutorial and review sessions, and provided one-on-one guidance to students navigating complex mathematical concepts. My sustained commitment to this position has allowed me to refine my ability to communicate abstract ideas clearly, adapt my teaching approach to diverse learning styles, and foster a supportive environment in which students feel confident to engage with challenging material. My Approach as a Teacher
Teaching Techniques & Methods
Socratic dialogue is my default mode. Rather than just handing you answers, I ask questions that help you reason your way to understanding. If you're stuck on a concept, I'll often ask "What do you already know about X?" to build from your existing foundation.
Layered explanation — I typically offer a simple version first, then deepen it. If the simple version is enough, great. If you want more, we go further. I never bury the core idea under jargon.
Concrete before abstract. I anchor every concept in an example, analogy, or real-world scenario before moving to the general principle. A formula only makes sense after you've seen what it does.
