About Luke
I am a BSc (Hons) Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine graduate with a special interest in proteomics, pharmacology and molecular pathophysiology. I am currently studying for an MSc in Immunology and Immunotherapeutics. Alongside my degree I have tutored in GCSE sciences. My students have all attained their predicted grades or above and some went on to do study STEM A Levels. For the last two years I have been a IntoUniversity mentor, during this time I have offered both pastoral and academic support to my mentee which was a really fulfilling experience. In my spare time I am a competitive tennis player, I have been an active member of the University of Nottingham BUCS Tennis team for the last 3 years, as a junior I had success locally and regionally.

My teaching method is very student lead. I allow the student to highlight their strengths and weaknesses so we can plan effective lessons achieving maximal results. I like to allow students to continue to nurture their strengths as it can be disheartening to focus on weaknesses the whole time. I try to explain concepts as concisely as possible and focus on active recall techniques to strengthen memory so the content becomes engrained in ones long term memory. The way that helped me study most effectively was learning the basic principles before moving onto more abstract theories- if you have a solid understanding of the basics this allows you to apply this logic to more complex problems allowing the student to answer questions which may be out of context.
