About Jack
I’m a university languages student with a strong academic background in German and Spanish and previous experience providing one-to-one language tuition.
Languages have been a major academic interest of mine for several years, and I particularly enjoy helping students move beyond simply memorising vocabulary and start understanding how the language actually works. I know from experience that confidence is often one of the biggest barriers in language learning, especially with speaking, so I aim to create lessons where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and improving without unnecessary pressure.
I have previously tutored a native German-speaking student who moved to the UK, helping her maintain and develop her German while preparing for GCSE. She later achieved a Grade 9 in German GCSE while still in Year 7.
Having completed GCSE and A-level language study myself relatively recently, I also understand the demands of modern language exams and the techniques students need to turn their knowledge into marks.
I want to teach because I genuinely enjoy languages and enjoy seeing students become more confident, independent and ambitious in their own ability.

I offer personalised German lessons designed around each student’s level, goals and areas for improvement. My sessions can focus on GCSE exam preparation, speaking confidence, grammar, writing, translation and vocabulary, with lessons adapted to how the student learns best.
I aim to make German feel structured and manageable rather than overwhelming. Lessons combine clear explanation with active practice, including speaking questions, translation tasks, grammar exercises and exam-style work where appropriate. I also place a strong emphasis on understanding mistakes rather than simply correcting them, so students can become more independent and confident over time.
I have previous private tutoring experience, including working with a native German-speaking student who had moved to the UK. I helped her maintain and develop her academic German while preparing for GCSE, which she went on to complete in Year 7 with a Grade 9.
Whether a student is aiming to strengthen the basics, improve fluency or push towards the highest GCSE grades, I will structure lessons around clear progress and measurable improvement.
