About Stephen
Hi,
I look forward to having you in my class. My role is to make your online learning experience meaningful. Although we will not be sitting next to each other in a face-to-face environment, try to think of your online classroom as being very similar. This may be the first time that some of you have taken an online course or maybe you are a seasoned online student. Regardless of your online learning experience, it is very natural to sometimes feel anxious when you start attending an online class. This will go away and I hope you will enjoy the fun parts of programming!

My teaching method is student centered.
I am instructor at Rasmussen University Online, starting in January 2010 to Present in the School of Technology and Design.
• Teach Math for Gaming and Simulation I and II.
• Teach Computer applications courses.
• Teach Management Information Systems.
• Create learning and assessment materials for online learning.
I teach in an online class environment for single students or a class up to 25 students. Below is a typical lesson plan and and actual lesson.
Lesson Plan
After Lesson One the student will know how to install the Python programming language.
The student will learn about:
strings, which are a string of letters and/or numbers.
numerical variables.
Lastly, the student will create a Python program to enter your first name, enter your zip code, and to display this.
Lesson
Python is a very popular programming language that is used in many types of organizations. Students will find it one of the easiest programming languages to learn. It is easy to install Python. Go to python.org, Downloads, and click on the “Download Python 3.10.4” button.
When you write a small or big application, you will “teach” your application to receive input, processing, and output. To write the first Python program you need to learn about variables. The two main types of variables are numbers and strings. The most types of numbers are integers and floating numbers. Watch carefully to the statements or commands in Python to ask. Strings are a string of letters and/or numbers. An example of a string is a password. A password usually has uppercase letter(s), lower case letter(s).
In this example program the variable for the entered first name is nameFirst.
The variable for the zip code is an integer named lettersIN.
In the first line of code the end user is prompted to enter your name. The second line prompted the end user to enter a zip code. The third line displays the entered first name and the entered zip code
nameFirst = input('Enter your first name: ')
lettersIN = input('Enter your zip code: ')
print(nameFirst)
print(lettersIN)
