About Femilola
About Me I have always been fascinated by the way literature and the humanities allow us to explore different perspectives, question ideas, and better understand the world around us. Teaching is a natural extension of this passion for me, and I enjoy creating a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing their own interpretations, and gaining confidence in their abilities. I graduated with First-Class Honours from Central Saint Martins (UAL) with a BA in Culture, Criticism and Curating, and I am currently studying for an MPhil in Film, where my research focuses on postcolonialism and Caribbean filmmaking. I also hold a Diploma of Higher Education in Classics from the University of Glasgow, which has strengthened my interest in the ancient world, literature, and classical traditions. Alongside my studies, I work as a research assistant on a project exploring Stanley Kubrick and the Classical Tradition, allowing me to continue researching the relationship between film, mythology, history, and culture. I offer tutoring in English Literature, Classics, and related humanities subjects up to A-Level. Whether you are preparing for exams, working through a challenging text, or looking to improve your essay writing and analytical skills, I create lessons that are adapted to your individual needs, interests, and goals. My particular academic interests include Shakespeare, Homeric epic, postcolonial literature, and the history and politics of the late Roman Republic. I enjoy exploring the connections between literature, history, and culture, and helping students develop their own ideas and interpretations. As a current research student, I also help students build the critical thinking and independent study skills that are valuable for A-Levels and university. I believe the best learning happens through conversation, curiosity, and collaboration. My lessons are designed to be supportive and engaging, giving students the opportunity to explore texts, ask questions, and develop confidence in their own voice. I welcome students of all abilities and aim to make literature and the humanities feel accessible and rewarding.
