About Grace
Hi! I'm a friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated Biomedical Sciences student at the University of Edinburgh, originally from Ireland. I've always had a strong interest in science and education, and I really enjoy helping others develop their confidence and understanding in subjects they may find challenging.
I achieved H1 grades in Biology and Chemistry and in Higher Level Mathematics in my Irish Leaving Certificate, and I've continued to develop my scientific knowledge throughout my university degree.
I've been tutoring since leaving secondary school and genuinely enjoy seeing students make progress, particularly when a topic they've struggled with finally starts to make sense. I understand how stressful exams can be, and I believe that having someone patient and approachable to explain difficult concepts can make a huge difference.
I'm naturally friendly, encouraging and adaptable, and I want students to feel comfortable asking questions without worrying about getting things wrong. My aim is not only to help students improve their grades but also to build their confidence and develop skills that will benefit them throughout their education.
Outside of university, I enjoy playing hockey, hiking and being involved in drama. These interests have helped me develop strong communication, creativity and teamwork skills, which I also bring into my tutoring.
Above all, I want to make learning feel less intimidating and help students recognise what they're capable of achieving with the right support!

My approach to tutoring is friendly, patient and tailored to each student's individual needs. I believe that every student learns differently, so I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building confidence in their abilities.
I offer Biology, Chemistry and Maths tutoring for National 5 and Higher students, as well as general science support for younger secondary school students.
Lessons are typically one hour long and can be delivered either online or in person in Edinburgh. I tailor each session to the student's current level, areas of difficulty and academic goals.
My teaching methods include:
- Breaking down complex topics into simple, manageable explanations.
- Working through exam-style questions and past papers.
- Developing effective revision techniques and exam strategies.
- Using diagrams, examples and interactive explanations to reinforce understanding.
- Identifying areas of weakness and building confidence through targeted practice.
- Adapting lessons to suit each student's learning style and pace.
I have been tutoring since leaving secondary school and am currently studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. I achieved top grades in Biology and Chemistry in my own school examinations and have continued developing my scientific knowledge throughout university.
Whether a student is aiming for top grades, struggling with a particular topic or simply looking for additional support, my goal is to make learning more approachable, enjoyable and rewarding while helping them reach their full potential.
