About Dhruv
About Me: I am a 5th Year Cambridge medical student who is very passionate about teaching and has excellent tutoring skills. I consider myself to be qualified to deliver subject-specific help and general exam technique guidance due to the experience I have earned in my GCSEs and A Levels, in which I obtained 12 A*s and 1 A at GCSE, and 2 A*s (Biology and Chemistry) and 2 As (Maths and English) at A Level. I promise to endeavour to deliver a comprehensive and informative learning experience for your child during every hour of tutoring, while also maintaining their education as a priority in my life outside of direct tutoring hours, when marking questions etc. Tutoring Style: My teaching approach is very much in line with the Tutoring Standards Pedagogy, and my primary purpose as a tutor is to directly elicit a response which demonstrates understanding from the student, helping solidify the knowledge for the student, as well as helping me realise that they have fully grasped that specific concept. Many tutors fall into the trap of talking at/lecturing the students, as if they were teaching a class, and do not realise that the reason 1on1 tutoring is so much more educational than normal teaching is due to the fact that you are able to directly work with the pupil in an individual manner, which involves a lot more probing and questioning on the part of the tutor. Experience: - 6 weeks teaching abroad in Hong Kong for all ages from 8 years - 20 years. Total ~245 hours teaching. - 1.5 years of weekly 1on1 'Elite Maths' tutoring for highly gifted 14-16 year old mathematicians. Dhruv has been and will be a great tutor, he manages to provide a wide insight into each topic which aids in his explanation. As well as being incredibly intelligent, he has a brilliant ability to breakdown large ideas into easier to digest chunks. A further aspect of Dhruv that makes him a great tutor is that he is very patient, and so is able to go over a topic as many times as required, in different ways to help until the concept is understood.
Dhruv is a wonderfully approachable person with great people skills. He is very good at explaining theories and teaching both his peers and those in younger years. I fully support his application to become a tutor and think he will do well to help his students.
Dhruv is an excellent tutor for a number of reasons: he is intelligent, endlessly patient and is able to explain difficult concepts with clarity, in the simplest terms possible. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
